The Fun Time Yes Band are a four piece Brighton band with more soul than James Brown’s ghost.

We play the songs you love, with a little funk sprinkled on top, so your wedding, bar mitzvah or birthday, goes off with a bang that will shake the rafters all over the South East.

We add class to the classics, and steer well clear of drowning you and your guests with too much cheese. Because let’s face it, while we all like a delicious bit of cheese, it’s not very good for you and you’ll only feel guilty afterwards.

But as Elvis Costello said, “talking about music is like dancing about architecture.” Have a listen to the demos..

Tap your feet. Bob your head. Then get in touch.

The Inaugural Blog

Welcome to the inaugural blog. Here we shall discuss all things wedding and function music, plus anything else that happens to take my fancy, just for fun. So to kick off proceedings I thought I’d do a plug and tell you what you need for your wedding: Hire a band. Whether you’re the couple who plans everything together or the bride or groom who wants to know every detail, or (as is often the case), this is the only job you’ve been given, hire a band.

Actually to be more specific you need to Hire Our Band. Your wedding is a once in a lifetime opportunity to celebrate your love for each other and music is always at the heart of celebration.

Once the vows have been uttered, the speeches made and laughed along to, and the happy couple have had enough of posing for photos; well in my humble opinion, that’s when the fun really starts. That’s when the pressure of all that wonderful, romantic, headspinny drama is over and you get a chance to breathe, have a drink and realise “holy shit, we just got married”!

It is at the party where you get uncle frank doing the running man. The party is the place for the bridesmaids to do that dance they all learned on the hen do, and the stags to jump around in an embracing circle and shouting the words to “Mr Brightside”. This is your time to let your hair down and enjoy being in a room with all your mates and relatives.

And at the centre of all of this revelry? The band. We are the music makers, the spectacle, the physical presence of live entertainment that cannot be replicated with an ipod. We are the people who can call you to the dance floor, lovingly learn and perform a first dance which is special to you, and cut it short after you realise that dancing alone for 4 minutes is not something you’ve done since school disco 1987. We are the people who the evening guests smile at as they look at each other and say “oooh, they hired a band”. We are the ones who can play a 15 minute version of that James Brown Song everyone loves singing along to. We are those chaps who let you sing “everybody needs somebody” to your guests, and will play musical statues with all the young (and old) children your guests brought along. We will judge the dance off, make the announcements, and skilfully cut the microphone when drunk uncle Nobby tries to do his Mr Blobby impression. We quite literally bring the noise. So if in doubt when sorting your wedding music:
